THE SEAT by Adebayo Muheez Adekunke #Diamond
The seat is as powerful as blazar,
Stronger than graphene,
As poisonous as black Mamba,
Only the strong can withhold its venom
Lest u fall into the pit of lust.
The seat is accompanied with pride, dishonesty and betrayal
Which proves the irrational use of power.
This is the Seat of power.
The powerful consumes our happiness,
The rich intimidates the poor,
The strong look down on the weak and feed on them,
The intelligent consumes the strength of the dull,
So does the higher class inflict suffering on the lower class.
All aforementioned are powerful in their own ways.
Alas! they all misuse their powers and perpetuate evil .
The Seat of Power corrupts,
But with love, we can all use our respective powers to better the world.

THE POWER-DRUNK MAN by Babatunde Sodiq Olalekan #Nebu

Power, the beginning of troubles of man
Power, the same which ends everything good in a man
Man craves and cries for it
Man depends and clings to it
Man kills and gets killed for it

Man gets the power he wants
Then brilliant blank ideas start to swim in his head
Ideas of thievery and deviousness
Ideas of living in decorated sin of affluence
And jeopardising the future of the people who gave him power

Man turns from a friendly Yaradua to a fiendish Hitler
He changes from a known angel to an unknown devil
Tell him, tell the power drunk man
Tell the misuser of power,
That the carnival of power will soon end

And when it ends,
He shall receive nothing but full scorn and hatred
Nothing again, but heartfelt curses and anger
From Us, The People…
Who will stop sitting to watch the power drunkards

And when death descends upon him so swiftly
Like the flashlights of tanatana insects
Waiting for him patiently,
Is the everlasting torment of hell
Prepared by the creator of Man and Power

THE STRONG WOMAN by Adeyeri Waliu Olalekan #Lhexxzydbard

YOU conjure my heart with your beauty,
You blindfold my feelings
After registering in my mind your majestic image.
You held my heart in captive
That i may not sway from thee.
Until you alone I see in all faces.

What power have you?
I dare not fight back
Lest I hurt my soul.

Your powerful beauty on me you have misused,
You used and disused my feeling
Until… I am shattered, battered and broken

CONCLAVE OF HYENAS by Adewuyi Samson #Dheon
I Wonder where am at
Brutality rules the day
Protectors turned oppressors
Found in all corners

Dishonesty their watchword
Greed their first name
Sexual animals at heart
Forever searching for preys

The conclave of hyenas
Gathered in unity
Against the suffering masses
Unchanged in their eternal efforts

WORD SHOTS by Zaheer

To get there, you lied
To attain it, you lied
You forced yourself on us
We didn’t want you
Where are the vows you made?
Where are the promises?
Big, bulging bellies house our roads
Classy cars caress our pregnant streets
These mouths have swallowed our schools
The masses are still the masses
The change is a stand still
They build statues instead hospitals ; of vermin that have no tie to our land
Our resources pay for your trip over the seas
While the youths of tomorrow are traumatized by the elders of yesterday
Privacy is no longer private
Men with crying sticks can demand to invade
Resist and another light goes dim
Or the men label you a criminal
With no valid reason
Justified by the power imbedded in their will
Bullying is no longer stratified to schools
Come, let me show you on our highways
Young bloods victimized on their possessions
What about the old man that wants to go five times?
Sexual harassment in a classy way
The elder of the past wants a piece of the new cake
Or the one that demands cowries?
Why? Why? Why?
All men should be equal
No one above the other
Maybe that way, this menace could end.
I want it to end, do you?

KING BAABUU by Lytanoomar

Nigerians, painted in the heart of all is Sani Abacha
I-bach-ya just like my three syllable name implies
Soyinka, Abiola gaoled and Saro wiwa murder label I a tyranny
On me 180 mill’ oral curse epitaph showers hourly.

My clerihew for pen users challenge

FADEYI by Elijah Alade #Germane

Fear always grips us
Your name is “Boko Haram”
To our ears.

You were cool and responsible
We made you our chief- Awodi
But you carried away all our chicks
What should we hope on?
When the hope has been tied by your rope

You hid under agbada and cap,
The cap on your horns can’t deceive us
But who will believe us
When we say we saw you remove a foetus from that woman
Or that John’s head is in your wardrobe

We believed you
We received you
You perceived that
You deceive us
You kill us
You skin us
You fan us

DEADLY LEADERS by TANIMOLA FEMI EMMANUEL
#FEMKEYZ
“`Oh you wretched human beings!
Your favorite things in the past
Are now below standards for your living
Your choice of living is now suddenly too vast
Alas!, You became poshly proud!

All we wanted was a Just Leadership
We wished for someone for the crowd
We thought we voted for Friendship
We confidently cast our votes for fake freedom
You brutally betrayed our Trust!

You loot the funds for the whole kingdom
Many men can’t get what they deserve
Because of Nepotism & Tribalism
Many women are deprived of their rights
Because of Bribery and corruption

Are we to talk about the youths?
Is it of them being used as death tools?
Is it about their curt end of life?
Cursed be You, you wicked ones!

You abruptly end the lives
Of the people that rebel against
Your evil acts and Tyranny
But You’ve secretly secured
The Lives of your own kids overseas!

I sigh of relief,
The thin line we hang on now is Hope,
We hope that your Corruption,
We hope that all the Injustices
Will all end with Your Reign!“`

This is an astonishing collection that reflects the sociopolitical situation of our present day. Wonderfully crafted, and truthful. In all aspects, truth. Well done.
